Mahama's failed assassin to be discharged from psychiatric hospital

Charles Antwi, the man who failed in a move to assassinate President John Mahama will likely be discharged from the Accra Psychiatric Hospital in a month's time after responding to treatment.

The 36-year-old Charles Antwi was sentenced 10-years in prison in July 2015 after confessing that he had wanted to kill President Mahama at his church.

Confirming the news to Accra-based Citi FM, the Chief Executive of the Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei said: “Charles Antwi is doing fine but he’s not good to the point where he can be left to go.”

“We are hoping that in the next one month he’ll be fit enough. We will take him back to the court and the court would decide on his fate,” Dr Osei added.
