A teenage suspect who was identified as one of the attackers who killed 12 people at the Paris office of weekly magazine, Charlie Hebdo, has surrendered to the police.

18-year-old French national, Hamyd Mourad, handed himself voluntarily to the police, according to an official at the Paris prosecutor's office.

According to BFM TV, Mourad surrendered at a police station in Charleville-Mézières in Northeastern France after seeing his name being mentioned on social media.
Two other suspects, brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi, are currently on the run and being hunted down by the police.
The three attackers on Wednesday, January 7, opened fire on staff at the office of the satirical magazine leaving 10 of them, and two police officers, dead.
The incident is believed to be linked to Charlie Hepdo’s notorious anti-Islamic/ anti-Prophet Mohammed cartoons and the killers were allegedly heard shouting “The Prophet has been avenged" after the attack.
French President, Francois Hollande has declared a national day of mourning for the victims to be observed from midday today.
