The committee investigating the June 3 disaster has revealed that contrary to widespread reports, the fire outbreak at the Goil fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle started elsewhere.
Justice Isaac Duose has stated that it was difficult to establish that fact but stressed that “it definitely did not start from here.”

A five-member committee was set up by President John Mahama to establish the cause of the fire on June 3, 2015.
Contrary to several eyewitnesses who have stated that the fire was sparked by a lightening or a generator at the filling station, the chairman of the committee, Justice Isaac Douse said preliminary findings indicate the fire started from elsewhere.

He stated that it was difficult to establish that fact but stressed that “it definitely did not start from here.”
He indicated that the committee “is zoning in on whoever was responsible for starting the fire.”
Justice Douse added; “We are confirming the quantity of water in relation to the quantity of products in the tanks...the technical people have taken their measurements and they are calculating to determine what their conclusions will be.”
“The National Petroleum Authority and other relevant authorities including GOIL; the owners are taking the measurements to make their calculations”.
