Top Officials In Charge Of Central Medical Stores To Face Interdiction

Several top officials in charge of the Central Medical Stores (CMS) face interdiction as Health Minister is set to make an announcement on Monday.

Several top officials in charge of the Central Medical Stores (CMS) face interdiction as Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Mensah is set to make an announcement on Monday January 19, 2015.

Also top directors at the Ghana Health Service will be affected by this announcement.

These top officials include Director Procurement and Supply, Ministry of Health, Smauel Boateng, Director Supply Stores and Drug Management, Ghana Health Service, Dr Kwesi Addai Donkor and Head of Stores at the Central Medical Stores, Abdul Karim Iddrisu.

Meanwhile Officials of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) have picked up 10 workers, including top official of the Central Medical Stores for questioning.

According to report the security outfit is treating all workers as suspects and had challenged them to provide leads to help them arrest others involved in the incident.

The CMS was consumed by fire last week, destroying medical supplies and equipment worth over GHȼ230 million.

In a related development the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is placing emphasis on the full protection of all key national assets and installation as well as warehouses nationwide. A statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the GNFS said the decision is in view of the severe nature of the harmattan weather and the recent spate of fire outbreaks.
