NPP, NDC MPs agreement on Ameri deal makes it perfect - MP

“Parliament did a very efficient job when the agreement was laid before us”

The Ameri deal is perfect because both sides in parliament had no problem with the agreement. This is the position of Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, Mutawaikilu Adam who is also a member of the Mines and Energy committee in parliament.

“Parliament did a very efficient job when the agreement was laid before us” he said.

He said when the agreement was referred to the select committee on mines and energy none of the other sides seemed to have any question on the terms of the agreement and the value for money accounting.

“We did all that we could to arrive at our conclusion there was no open disagreement between the NDC and the NPP of parliament in that committee. We had a unanimous conclusion and then submitted it to parliament and it was passed.” He told Citi Fm on Monday.

Government is on the defensive after a story broke that the Ameri deal to provide turbines was not only signed with a Norwegian fraudster but also the cost benefit analyses leave much to be desired.

The deal to acquire ten turbines from Ameri over the period of five years the tune of 510 million dollars is not value for money according the energy analysts at the Africa Center Energy Policy.

The Ghana Integrity Initiative has also called for people who failed to do due diligence before the deal was signed must be investigated and punished.

Meanwhile private legal practitioner Ace ankomah argues that the abrogation of the Ameri agreement will cost Ghana more money.
