We don’t need think tanks that slumber – Franklin Cudjoe

Prof Lumumba while speaking at the PAV Ansah Memorial Lecture in Accra on the theme, "Good governance, whither Africa?" remarked that “In ‪Africa, we have think tanks...they are tanks, they don't think”.

The President of policy think tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe has backed the Director at the Kenya School of Law, Professor P.L.O Lumumba’s call for think tanks to do serious thinking for the continent instead of only showing interest in prestige.

He urged that such institutions should rather think critically in order for the African continent to develop.

The call, according to IMANI boss, is one worth heeding to.

“We’ve had enough of motivational speaking. The only way this continent can change is investing in the power of ideas – something we’ve done at IMANI for the last 9 years. We’ve trained about 700 Africans in all seminars we’ve held in about seven countries and most of them are doing well. They’re setting up networks, setting up think tanks which of course, we need more. And I understand Prof that we truly need think tanks that think and not slumber,” Mr Cudjoe said on Citi FM’s on Saturday.
