One of the lawyers Victor Kodjoga Adawudu in addressing the court said, the charge of dealing in narcotics leveled against Mr. McDermott is not an offense under the extradition laws of Ghana for which requires him to be sent to the UK to face trial.

According to him, their objection also stems on the fact that the state in an inventory of the the things seized in the fugitive's residence did have any drug substances for which he has been brought to court.

Arguing his case the defense lawyer indicated that they a are of the believe the fugitive must be tried in Ghana where he was arrested if there is any evidence to proof his guilt.
