Minister of Petroleum, Emmanuel Kofi-Armah Buah has asked stakeholders including the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to reduce transport fares to reflect the current prices of fuel.

“It is really unfair to the people of Ghana that anytime we had increased petroleum price, there was a call for increase in transport fares.

“Yet we have seen almost over 35 per cent decrease in fuel prices [which] has not been matched by transport fares reduction and this is really not fair to the people of Ghana,” the minister told Accra-based TV3.

“I am calling on the GPRTU and others to make sure that they make this reflect in transport fares,” the Minister added.

Ghanaians are likely to witness a reduction in fares, that is, if the Council abides by the call of the Petroleum Minister.
