Fire has gutted the sawdust and timber market at Muus, around Ofankor Barrier in Accra.

The fire which started around 2.30 pm Thursday has engulfed several shops within the market, Accra-based Peace FM has reported.

Lots of property running into thousands of cedis have been destroyed.

It's not clear what might have triggered the fire as officials of the Ghana National Fire Service are yet to speak on the issue.

However, eyewitnesses believe the fire might have started during a usual sawdust burning process.

Fire personnel are putting in effort to bring the fire under control.

Meanwhile, no casualty has been recorded yet.
