About 134 people at Ative-Korfevie, a farming community in the Ketu-North district of the Volta Region have been rendered homeless after a fire outbreak razed down their thatched houses.

The fire which began about 1pm on Wednesday destroyed lots of personal property worth thousands of cedis, including roofing sheets, food, clothing and farm produce.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but residents suspect that it was caused by some game hunters who set fire to the bush.

Fire personnel took about four hours before being able to bring the fire under control.

Meanwhile, the Deputy District Co-ordinator of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Bright Martin Dela Alormatu has told Graphic Online that the affected residents had been relocated to a nearby vocational school building.
