About 60 inmates of the New Life Orphanage in Nungua are in desperate need of a place to lay their heads after fire razed their three bedroom home in Accra.

Founder of the Orphanage Nii Afotey Botwe told Accra-based Joy fm, the fire started while the inmates were in school.

He said he saw smoke billowed from the boys room where one of the beds close to the window was on fire.

"I run quickly to check when I realised that the fire was coming out. There was a lot of smoke and the extinguisher cannot do anything because there was a lot of smoke".
