GOIL gives GHC 560,000 to National Disaster Fund

In a statement , the company said “the Board, Management and Staff of Goil have made a donation of GHC560,000 to the National Disaster Fund, including a total of GHC60,000, towards the medical care of the affected individuals on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Police Hospital.”

 

Goil Company Limited has made a donation of GHC 560,000 towards the National Disaster Fund.In a statement , the company said “the Board, Management and Staff of Goil have made a donation of GHC560,000 to the National Disaster Fund, including a total of GHC60,000, towards the medical care of the affected individuals on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Police Hospital.”

The company urged citizens to contribute towards finding lasting solutions to the flood and inferno disasters that claimed many lives last Wednesday.“On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Goil, the Chairman, Prof W.A. Asomani, reiterates the commitment of Goil to join hands with all Ghanaians in this challenging times and hopes as citizens, we all contribute our quota to a collective search towards a lasting solution for the nation.

“While commiserating with the bereaved families and the affected, Goil has reemphasized their pledge to assist in any possible way to ease the pain on various fronts as a result of this national tragedy,” it said.

Over 200 people lost their lives while properties running into millions of cedis got destroyed by the torrential rains that fell for over three hours.

Some people had gathered in front of a Pharmacy Shop at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle near the Goil Filling Station adjacent to the GBC Towers to seek for refuge from the heavy downpour but unfortunately lost their lives following a fire outbreak at the Goil filling station.Meanwhile, a memorial service has been held for victims of the flood and fire disasters. The ceremony climaxed the 3-day national mourning exercise declared by the government.
