Ben Ephson Advices Against Begging Nana Konadu To Return To NDC

Pollster Ben Ephson says he does not understand why anybody should go begging former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings to rejoin her husband’s party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after she broke ranks with the party in 2011 ahead of the 2012 general elections.Mrs Rawlings left to form her own National Democratic Party (NDP) after contesting President John Mills (late) for the NDC’ flag-bearer slot and losing appallingly.She, however, failed to meet the Electoral Commission’s deadline for filing nominations and was disqualified from the race.Mr Rawlings told the party at its Saturday congress at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi that the NDC must consider inviting his wife back into the NDC.“…Go and invite our mother Nana Konadu to come back home,” ex-President Rawlings told the over 4,000 delegates gathered at the Baba Yara Sports stadium, adding “but then again can you blame her”.However, Mr Ephson told Morning Starr host Kafui Dey Monday that: “One comment that Rawlings made [which] I find hard to understand…why should the NDC invite the wife to come in? She left, she can walk back. Nobody is forcing her.“I mean she thought that by leaving the party, the party will be biting its fingers and begging her. Why should the party invite her back? She walked out and she should walk in,” he said.
