ECG Boss Fired By Prez John Mahama

Before his appointment, Mr. Robert Dwamena was the once President of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors for the 2011/2012 session.

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Robert Dwamena as Acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

In a statement signed by the Chief Of Staff, Mr. Prosper Bani, the former Managing Director, Rev. Ing. William Hutton-Mensah, who is currently on an annual leave, will report to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum for re-assignment.

Reports have it that the President has currently implored the Omanhene of Abeadze and President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, to act as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ECG.

Mr. Robert Dwamena worked as the Project Manager for Distribution Engineering Geographic Information System (DEGIS), a Geographic Information System (GIS) Project for Distribution, Operation and Asset Management. In March 2003 he was appointed Materials Manager becoming the Director of Material and Transport in 2008.

In November 2011, he was appointed Director of Procurement as part of the restructuring which created the Procurement Directorate. He has attended a number of courses including Procurement Courses in Hyderabad, India and Turin in Italy and has also travelled extensively.

Mr. Robert Dwamena was the President of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors for the 2011/2012 session.

His appointment follows the resignation of Tony Oteng Gyasi on September 19. Mr Gyasi gave no reasons for his resignation but sited personal issue, however rumor has it that it was based on health grounds.
