Dumsor vigil comes to a peaceful end

The much anticipated vigil by some celebrities has ended on a successful note.

Actress Yvonne Nelson leads #DumsorMustStop vigil in style

With thousands gathered at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout brandishing their lanterns, candles participants waited patiently for organisers to share their dumsor experiences. The lights have illuminated the stretch at the Tetteh Quarshie in a rather unique way.

Some protesters carried fridges all the way from Legon, the starting point of the vigil to Tetteh Quarshie. The procession has affected vehicular traffic from the Legon to Accra end of the road.

The chants were on; the crowd thicks as the clock ticks. The vigil proceeded slowly to the end point at Tetteh Quarshie where organisers shared their dumsor experiences.

Clad in black with red arm bands, the thousands marched from their designated start point at the  Old Legon Gate amidst heavy police presence to their end point.

Several of the protesters showed up with placards bearing messages to the government and the president, John Dramani Mahama to wake up while others showed up with lanterns and other forms of indigenous sources of light.
