Information gathered shows that government is considering privatizing the company due to poor service.
The ECG would be privatised by March or June 2016 year depending on the private takeover option the government chooses.
The government of Ghana is considering two privatisation preferences – partial privatisation or a concession contract – as it weighs measures to attract investment in the state-owned power distribution company.

He said "We are inviting private involvement so we have independent power producers coming in adding that "We are fortifying the power sector most in terms of generation and distribution."
As part of efforts to end dumsor, President Mahama said "...We need to forecast our demand and plan generation to be in tune with our growth...one of the major sectors that take my time and attention is the power sector... we have made a great effort and as close as we are at solving dumsor, we still have a gab.
