Ghana Bar Association is too lazy – Gabby Otchere Darko observes

Mr. Darko observed that Ghanaians do not trust the judiciary anymore, adding that other law making institutions have lost respect for human rights in the country.

The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Otchere Darko has heavily criticized the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), describing it as a lazy institution.

He said this while commenting on the recent bribery scandal that hit the Judicial Service.

According to him, Ghana does not have a legal system that the citizenry can be proud of because the GBA is not proactive.

“The GBA has been run in a lazy manner … they are not proactive in ensuring justice,” he said.

He therefore called for reforms at the Judicial Service to improve justice delivery systems.

His comments come days after the GBA appointed new executives to steer the affairs of the institution.

The exposé by by Anas Aremeyaw has prompted a judicial inquiry to establish a prima facie case against 12 High Court judges who allegedly took bribes to influence their judgements.
