Two killed, others injured in renewed Nkonya-Alavanyo conflict

The violence occurred hours after the curfew in the area was reviewed

The violence occurred hours after the curfew in Alavanyo and Nkonya was reviewed.

It is however not clear what led to the clashes but the Kpando divisional Police commander Chief Superintendent Prosper Ahlidza who confirmed  the incident said it happened around 7 and 8pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

According to him, the perpetrators are alleged to be from Alavanyo.

He said "Two people were shot dead and two injured at Nkonya Ahenkro around 7 to 8 o’clock in the evening."

He told Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday morning that "It was an attack from the Alavanyos."

Supt. Ahlijah added that "The soldiers on the ground, they were monitoring events because the attack was coming from that direction."

Meanwhile, the Volta regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, said the Regional Security Coordinating Council will  hold an emergency meeting over the issue in order  to ensure that things do not get out of hands.
