NPP's Chairman Wontumi released from police custody
Wontumi was detained by the police after he turned himself in for assaulting the MP for Manhyia North

This follows a decision by the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah to discontinue the assault case against him.
In a letter dated May 4, 2016 and addressed to the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, lawyer for the complainant stated he has been instructed by his client to “pursue settlement and have accordingly instructed us to serve you notice of their said intention”.
It continued: “We would be grateful if you could graciously suspend further action on the case to enable the parties in good faith resolve the issue in pursuit of the said settlement”.
