IGP honours exceptional sportsmen

The IGP gave talented sportsmen within the force a valuable pat on the back, reports Alice Adu.

At the ceremony held at the Fitness and Social Center of the National Police Headquarters, the IGP used the opportunity to appeal to the government to invest in sportsmen within the Police Force in order to facilitate participation in competitions at the international level.

He also called for the rekindling of the famed SESSA (Security Service Games) to foster healthy sporting competition among the nation's security services. He believed this would also give youthful sporting talents a chance to be discovered and to rise.

While expressing worry over the deplorable state of many of the country's sporting facilities, he suggested that setting up a specific fund to realize his suggestions amongst others would be a a laudable step in the right direction.
