This saw 11 members of Christlicher Verein Junger Menschen (CVJM) in Rechtebach come to Ghana for two weeks to mark the celebration with their Ghanaian counterparts.
At a grand durbar to celebrate the partnership which the two groups like to describe as a family, the Guest of honour for the ceremony Mr Martin Schmidt mentioned that the partnership which exists between the two groups goes beyond the contractual agreement signed on a sheet of paper.
Schmidt who is also the Chairman of CVJM Rechtebach said: “this partnership is more than a sheet of paper. It is for life. We have become a family and always believe we have family members in Ghana from Kpone Bawaleshie to be precise. We know that you also believe you have family members in Germany and Rechtebach for that matter.”
During the partnership, there has been 73 Germans visiting Kpone Bawaleshie on 40 different tours while 30 people have visited from Ghana.
The President of the Kpone Bawaleshie YMCA George Nuertey Ahenguah expressed gratitude to their Rechtenbach partners for all the support they have given them over the years. He also praised the chiefs and people of the area “for always being a part of this growing partnership which has brought a lot of development to the area.”
The partnership agreement was subsequently renewed for another five-year term.
Both parties used the opportunity to also call for a peaceful election in Ghana ahead of the December polls and entreated the youth not to allow themselves to be used for violent activities before, during and after the elections.
