Negative comment on 'assault' video won't be tolerated - Obinim

A video which has gone viral shows Bishop Obinim whipping the two in the full glare of his congregation and questioned why the jobless man got the girl pregnant.

 

According to a statement signed by Joseph Osei Oppong Brenya, Media aide to Bishop Obinim, it said "We have observed that some people with evil Agenda are using the video to castigate and spread false rumors about the Founder and General Overseer of International God's Way Church."

It said "We will not tolerate any negative commentaries on the said Video without any attempt to understand the content before."

After he meted out the punishment, Obinim ordered his junior pastors to remove their belts and also flog the two.

Below is the full statement:

"There is video making rounds purported to have taken place at the International God's Way Church, Accra branch. We will entreat the general public not to take it on the surface but seek to understand what really happened.

Media aide to Bishop Obinim

Meanwhile, Amnesty International has called on the Police to arrest Bishop Daniel Obinim for flogging a hapless pregnant girl and her boyfriend during a church service.

According to the Director of Amnesty International Ghana Lawrence Amesu, the act is barbaric and criminal, warranting an immediate arrest.
