Ghanaians want government to retrieve monies lost through dubious deals

Out of 10,020 respondents who were interviewed in the survey across the country, Ashanti Region topped the list of respondents making the request with over 68% followed by Upper East Region with 64% and the Western Region with 60%.

Head of Economics at IMANI, Patrick Stephenson, who presented the report at a press conference, said: “It is interesting to see that more than 50 per cent of respondents we spoke to expect the government or whichever government to retrieve resources that had been lost”.

He added that: “If you have to juxtapose this response or these results to the fact that if we have had cases where we are not too sure whether resources have been retrieved by the state for the people of Ghana, it becomes very worrying.”

Based on the finding, he wondered if “politicians are doing the things that citizens are looking for”.
