Okuapeman Council halts noise making and funerals
The council explained that this is to honour the late queen of Okuapeman, Nana Dokua II, who died in July last year, and whose funeral rites will start on April 25.

Addressing the media, Nana Otubuo Gyan Kwasi II, The Adontenhene (and also the chief of Aburi) said the Traditional Council would not be kind to people who flout the directive.

“This directive is to show respect to our late queen. From 11 to 25 April, there will be no funeral and noisemaking. This even coincides with the Easter holiday, which is supposed to be a sober reflection of one’s life, so there is no need for noisemaking. The funeral [runs] from 25 April to 1 May,” he explained.
Nana Otubuo Gyan kwasi II lauded the late queen as an icon of peace whose counsels maintained peace and harmony in the whole of Okuapeman.
