Police arrest 5 NPP supporters with AK-47 rifle

Seizure of public properties including toll booths and vehicles became rampant immediately after President Nana Akufo-Addo was announced winner of the 2016 presidential election. President Akufo-Addo condemned the act in his maiden State of the Nation Address to Ghana in Parliament on Tuesday February 21, 2017.

The police reported that, the ring leader of the group known as Abdulai Alhassan Gariba, 32, together with four other members of the gang are currently behind bars.

The source revealed an AK-47 assault rifle was found hidden in the engine compartment of a taxi he was driving at the time of arrest. In addition two magazines loaded with 32 rounds of ammunitions were also found concealed under the driver’s seat; a machete was found in the boot of the car.

The police are still investigating the matter.
