Former Head of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ, Justice Emile Short has asked Ghanaians to be circumspect in making hasty generalisations about the judiciary. He said this on the back of the latest expose on judiciary which will soon be released by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Thirty judges and about a 100 court officials have been captured in a yet-to-be released video receiving bribes or engaged in corrupt activities to influence justice.

“We must be careful about making general condemnation of the judiciary because you know there are many judges who are performing their duties with integrity and the judiciary is such an important institution and we should make sure we do not undermine public confidence in the judiciary”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Council has suspended 22 circuit court judges and magistrates effective 10 September 2015 following the latest corruption expose by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In a statement signed by Justice Alex Opoku Acheampong, Judicial secretary, the Judicial Council has also put 12 High Court judges under investigation.

The Deputy communications director of the CPP, Ernesto Yeboah has however cast doubts over whether government will prosecute the judges involved in the latest bribery scandal.

The two-year investigative video, titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice’ is set to premiere at the Accra International Conference Centre on September 22.
