Mother gives go-ahead for daughter to commit suicide

The woman's daughter has threatened to commit suicide after her nude pictures were leaked on social media.

The mother of an eighteen-year-old girl has said that she is not bothered about her daughter’s threat to commit suicide after her nude pictures were leaked on social media.

Benedicta Mensah Denkey said that she took the pictures jokingly with one of her colleagues in school.

However, her phone got into the hands of some young boys after it had gone missing.

The boys subsequently demanded GH₵ 5,000 as ransom but since she could not raise that amount of money, they decided to leak the pictures on social media.

Benedicta said she is now considering suicide following the shame and stigma she is going through at the moment.

“Now I am scared to go outside because the stigmatization is just too much. I am tired of this country and I think the best way to avoid everything is to take my life. I can’t tell when I will commit the act but it can be any moment” she told Accra-based Adom FM.

Her mother, who is yet to see the pictures said her daughter can go ahead and commit suicide since attempts to take her mind off that has proved futile.

“I haven’t seen the pictures. I have no idea about it. I don’t think she will do it. I don’t have anything to do about it. If she will kill herself she should go ahead because I’m tired of talking to her” she said.
