AMA inaugurates unit committees
The unit committees are expected to assist the work of assembly members of the AMA.

AMA Chief Executive, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, said to whom much was given much was expected and, therefore, called on the 380 unit committee members to work to transform the communities.
He asked them to join hands with assembly members to tackle sanitation problems in their areas of jurisdiction to prevent diseases.
“As members of the grassroots my expectation is that you will work to bring a face-lift to Accra by changing the lives of the people, otherwise your inauguration today becomes a waste of resources,” he said.

Dr Vanderpuije urged the members to correct the wrongs in society and visit homes to check and report landlords who did not have toilet facilities to stop open defecation.
“Don’t compromise with wrong doers; let us change that attitude. Whether the person is your relation or not; wrong is wrong.”
The Accra Mayor said a time had come to give meaning to the assembly structures, hence there was the need to work for the development of the city to affirm President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of “Changing lives and transforming the people.”
Mr Thomas Mustapha Ashong, the Presiding Member of the AMA, asked the unit committee members to lead exemplary lives and be role-models to community members.
He encouraged them to complement the work of the assembly members by reporting wrong doings to the sub-metros for action to be taken and participate in sanitation activities.

The unit committees’ members were sworn-in by Madam Efua Gyetowah Sackey of the High Court.
