Financial Analyst, and anti corruption campaigner, Sydney Casely - Hayford has maintained that granting the demands of  striking doctors of the Ghana Medical Association will not burst the 2015 budget as the president will have Ghanaians believe.

The president in, what has become an infamous declaration, last week, said  he will not grant  any demand  by public sector workers  which is not captured under the 2015 budget.

Addressing the issue this week’s edition of the The Big Issues on Citi FM, Sydney Casely – Hayford said salaries never busted the budget.

“ What throws the budget out of gear is projects like GYEEDA, SADA, SUBA etc, not conditions of service for hard working doctors” he said.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) government came under a lot of flak in 2013 for monies committed to botched projects like the Ghana Youth Employment and Enterprises Development Authority- GYEEDA projects , and the Savannah Accelerated Development Agency- SADA projects.

The financial analyst and anti-corruption campaigner also described as unacceptable the fact that doctors have not been giving conditions of service for 23 years.

“ I feel completely bastardized that doctors have not been conditions of service for that long.”

Irrespective of whether what the doctors are doing is illegal or not, “ all ministries and  agencies , two year ago, went over their budgets. The presidency itself went over its budget by GHC600 million, so what is president talking about. When Prosper Bani, his chief of staff overspent his budget in the first six months of the year, at the time, didn’t’ the president signed off ddn’t he”, Mr. Casely Hayford asked.
