Some shops in Bubiashie, a suburb of Accra are selling bottles of expired Muscatella drink, manufactured by Accra Brewery Limited, Starrfmonline.com investigations have revealed.

The popular drink among Ghanaian children has various Best Before dates from March, April and May 2015.

A retailer who had large amounts of the drinks in stock at her shop at Bubiashie told Starrfmonline.com Wednesday that the drinks were only delivered to them last week and did not know they were expired until a consumer came to purchase them.

A man in his 50s, who also served the drinks to his visitors not knowing they were expired, told Starrfmonline.comthat he was embarrassed after one of his guests revealed to him that the drink he had served them expired in March 2015.

When contacted, officials of Accra Brewery Limited shifted the blame on the distributors, saying the drinks might have lasted with the distributors before the retailers acquired them.
