The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA has confiscated some quantities of banned aphrodisiacs from the market. This follows the authority’s earlier decision to revoke marketing authorization permits for the sale and distribution of some vitality herbal medicines for men.

Chief Executive Officer of FDA, Hudu Mogtari said his regulatory officers all over the country have seized the products form warehouses and pharmacy shops where they are being sold to unsuspecting customers.

“We have actually collected these medicines. So far as our officers are concerned in the field, they have gone to all the places where these things are supposed to be except some have been hidden somewhere that we do not know. But we have gone to all the warehouses, we’ve gone to the various pharmacies and we’ve pulled all of these things. So our officers all over the country are in control of these things”, he said.

He further tasked manufacturers to ensure that such unwholesome products are pulled away from the market. He said manufacturers who fail to do so will be sanctioned.

The FDA, last month, banned some vitality herbal medicines which were suspected to have been adulterated with Vardenafil, a synthetic pharmaceutical ingredient used in the formulation of prescription-only medicine for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

The products include Rockman Capsules, manufactured by RockCare Clinic; Angel Natural Capsules by Angel Herbal Products Industry and Tinattet Be4 Be4 Capsules by Tinattet Marketing Co. Ltd.
