Kwahu Traditional Council bans invocation of curses over increase in deaths

Speaking at a traditional durbar to mark Kwahu Adae-Kese on Sunday at Abene, the Krontihene of Kwahu-Abene, Nana Simpe Wiredu said residents who flout the law will be made to pay a hefty fine.

“It is very disheartening to note that, at least 20 cases of invocation of curses are recorded in the Kwahu area every day, even in the olden days when Christianity had not spread, invoking of curses wasn’t rampant but now even Christians, Mallams and traditionalists are all invoking curses, everybody is into it. We have forbidden invocation of curses with immediate effect, anyone caught culpable will be dealt with.”

Nana Simpe Wiredu explained that at least 20 complaints over invoked curses are recorded in the tradition area daily.
