Fire has gutted parts of the Tamale Central Market in the Northern regional Sunday.

Fire guts Tamale Central market, destroys shops
The unfortunate incident happened on Sunday morning.

The fire, which started this morning from one shop with fire crackers spread to other shops and destroyed items running into millions of Ghana cedis.
Some market women who spoke to Adom FM blamed a welder for the inferno.
But efforts by the markets women to douse the fire proved futile so they called the fire service for assistance.

According to the Northern Regional Fire Service Spokesperson, OD1 Opoku Aikins, they have been able to douse the fire and have began investigation to know the cause of fire.
