Sex workers in Tamale will face rigours of the law - MCE

According to him, the law frowns on prostitution indicating that anyone who is found to be engaged in the act will be arrested.
Apart from the police barracks the prostitutes operate, they also work in areas including the Bank of Ghana road, Victory Cinema area around Aboabo, Nyohini, Tohajie, and the enclave near Alhassan Hotel.

According to reports, some of the young girls engaged in the business are believed to be between 10 and 12 years.
Metropolitan Chief Executive, Idrrisu Musah Superior speaking on the development in the metropolis said is determined to sack the prostitutes out of the metropolis.
Briefing the media, he quoted the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) section 274 which states "Any person who — (a) knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution; or (b) is proved to have, for the purposes of gain, exercised control, direction or influence over the movements of a prostitute in such manner as to aid, abet or compel the prostitution with any person or generally, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour."
