One hundred and forty three (143) junior house officers of the Korlebu-teaching hospital have threatened of a likely strike action if their salaries are not paid to them in full by the end of October.

In a letter signed by President of the group, Dr. Oswald Tetteh, to the Health ministry, the junior house officers indicated that since assumption of duty from May 18, 2015 to date, they have not received any salary, even though the process of biometric registration has been completed.

"We have completed biometric registration and satisfied all other requirements to enable us receive our salaries though 23 of us still have not had their biometric registration done. This was due to an error in the granting of financial clearance (being left out initially when the remaining 120 were granted and later being granted clearance with a wrong date of assumption of duty) which was no fault of theirs. The anomaly has been rectified and we hope they can have the biometric registration done as soon as possible for them to receive their salaries as well", the letter added.

The junior house officers have therefore urged the Health ministry to promptly settle their arrears so they can go about their normal duties as house officers.
