A memorial and burial service has held for him on Fridayat the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

He has been buried at the Osu Military Cemetery, Accra.

In a tribute, the Vice President has described the fallen soldier as 'a soldier's soldier'.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the slain soldier was one who was dedicated to his duty and one who deserved to be emulate.

"At the gates of the Military Academy and Training School where his career as a soldier began, there is an inscription that states that they who pass through that gate commit to defend the Nation on land, in the air and on the seas, even at the peril of their lives. If there is ever a soldier who lived this commitment as a religious duty, that was Major Maxwell Adam Mahama," he said.
