2 Policemen And A Nigerian Arrested In Attempt To Smuggle "Weed"

Two policemen and a Nigerian have been nabbed by Police in the Volta region for allegedly attempting to smuggle weed.

Police in the Volta region have arrested two Police officers and a Nigerian for possessing and attempting to transport “weed”.

The compressed leaves, neatly packed in the Nissan Navara police pick-up, and the suspects were on their way to Aflao from Have in the Volta region when they were arrested.

The policemen were identified as Lance Corporal Fraizer,  a police driver at the Police Training School in Ho, and one who was in charge of the vehicle, and Sergeant Prosper Ametepe was an officer at Keta whiles  the identity of their Nigerian accomplice is yet to be known.

The suspects were arrested at dawn last Saturday at a checkpoint at Sokode-Lokoe, near Ho after the police had a tip-off that the suspects were trying to smuggle the substance to Togo.

The three are currently in police custody at the Volta Regional Police headquarters for interrogation.

The Volta Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Kofi Abraham, confirmed the incident but declined to give any details because he said investigations had just begun to gather more information on the matter.
