I am heartbroken over Adams Mahama’s death

Nana Addo who is currently in The Netherlands after visiting Germany on a 16-day European tour says he is returning to Ghana to join say goodbye to Adams

 

The flag-bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party says the death of the party’s Upper East regional chairman breaks his heart.

According to Nana Akuffo Addo, the tragic death of Adams Mahama is shocking.

“I am heartbroken, we knew each other for a very long time.  He is a very good friend of mine and was a very strong aide to the late vice president Alhaji Aliu Mahama. It’s a sad day for the NPP”, he said.

Nana Addo has expressed his condolences to the wife and family of the deceased. He also called for calm in the NPP as the police do their investigations.

“I’m calling on Almighty to give them the strength to bear this terrible loss. To all my fellow members in NPP, it is time to stay calm and be in solidarity with each other. We don’t want anybody taking the law into their own hands and causing any kind of mess. Instead, be calm and responsible and see what happens”, he advised.

Nana Addo who is currently in The Netherlands after visiting Germany on a 16-day European tour says he is returning to Ghana to join say goodbye to Adams."I am cutting short my trip to Europe to come back home to join everybody in the party and in the country to say goodbye to our fallen colleague and then would soon see what needs to be done within the party and outside to respond to the situation”.

Background to Adams’ death

­Two men poured acid on Adams Mahama when he was returning from his construction site late in the night.

According to Adama Mahama’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him.

The regional chairman was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he lost his life.
