Mahama leaves for Nigeria to attend Buhari's investiture

President John Mahama has left the shores of Accra for Nigeria to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Muhammadu Buhari .

President John Mahama has left Accra for Nigeria for the swearing-in ceremony of the country’s President elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari which comes off tomorrow, May 29,2015.

Nigeria's ex-military ruler Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential election beating incumbent President, Goodluck EbeleJonathan  by more than 2.5 million votes.

It was the fourth time that Gen. Buhari, 72, has sought the presidency.

He ruled Nigeria from January 1984 until August 1985, taking charge after a military coup in December 1983.

Mr Jonathan had led Nigeria since 2010, initially as acting leader before winning elections in 2011.

Nigeria has suffered from several attacks by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, which has killed thousands of people in its drive to establish an Islamic state.
