US President Barack Obama has spoken via telephone to Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan.

The US President also praised Jonathan for ensuring the conduct of peaceful elections in Nigeria.
Obama spoke to the men separately to “commend them for their leadership during Nigeria’s election,” according to the White House.
The US President had expressed his congrats to Buhari via an earlier released statement.
Buhari was named President-elect on Tuesday, March 31, after beating Jonathan by over 2 million votes.
