Nintendo of America has announced via Twitter that Legend of Zelda will be one of the 15 games that will be played at this year's Nintendo World Championships.

According to reports, initial qualifying rounds were held across eight different Best Buy locations in the U.S. on May 30, involving the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario. The eight qualifiers along with an additional eight Nintendo-selected competitors will fight it out for the Nintendo World Championship during E3.
The Nintendo World Championships for this year is the first time in 25 years that Nintendo has held the competition. The first was a three-day event held in Dallas, Texas on March 8, 1990.
