Akufo-Addo to visit Denkyira Obuasi

The community of about 2,000 has been ostracised following the murder incident.

Since then, several church groups have stormed the community to pray with them and to urge the community to put the past behind it.

Announcing the president's visit, Deputy Central Regional Minister, Thomas Agyei Baffour, said the president will visit the chiefs and opinion leaders of Denkyira Obuasi.

"The President on 11 of this month will come to the region and he is expected to go to Denkyira Obuasi to meet chiefs and opinion leaders there,” he said, according to mynewsgh.com

“We have communicated the visit to the Chiefs and everyone concerned that on the 11 the President will pay working visit to them.”

Murder trial

Currently, 20 people are standing trial for allegedly murdering the young military officer.

And the police have launched a manhunt for 13 people linked to Major Mahama's death.

They have been charged with two counts of murder contrary to section 46 of the criminal code and other offences act of 1960, Act 29 as well as conspiracy to commit crime to wit murder: contrary to section 23(1) and 46 of the criminal and other offences act 1960 (Act 29).
