I am proud of my wife's KATH initiative - Nana Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has commended First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo for her efforts in raising funds to build a new maternity unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

According to the President, he was very proud of his wife for spearheading the initiative to support maternal health in the country and asked Ghanaians to support her cause.

In a tweet on Twitter, the president wrote: “I am proud of what @rakufoaddo is doing to assist Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Let us all support her to #SaveAChildSaveAMother.”

The First Lady also replied her hubby in a PDA (Public Display of Affection) style, pledging to help him achieve his campaign promises.

Mrs Akufo-Addo on Sunday joined the Asantehene, Lady Julia, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, KATH officials and other prominent people in the region at a fundraising ceremony in Kumasi following a similar event in Accra.

Authorities say the new maternity block is expected to reduce the high mortality rate of mothers and babies at the hospital by up to 60 percent.
