Over 91,000 fresh graduates have been posted to various state and private institutions to begin their one-year mandatory service.

But several of the graduates, especially those in Accra are being turned away by the various institutions.

Many of the institutions have complained of not having vacancies, while others say they have no knowledge of the postings.

But the Public Relations Officer at the NSS, Ambrose Entsiwa said even though they have received complaints from some of the service personnel, they are yet to be informed officially by the institutions involved.

He, however, said he was hopeful that the issues “will be resolved before 24 August before they start the service”.

He further explained that the some of the personnel were being turned away because the institutions have made their own arrangements as to the kind and number of students they would want to have as service personnel.

The Secretariat does not often encourage such arrangements, but it gets helpless in such situations as the allowances of such service personnel are paid by those institutions.

The institutions also pay service charges to the secretariat.
