Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Tanko has told Pulse.com.gh that Okomfo Yaw Appiah has not been put under house arrest, but rather he is being held  in protective custody.

According to ASP Tanko the police had information that  scores of Bishop Obinim’s supporters had planned to invade and attack Okomfo Yaw’s residence and decided to give him protection.

“Supporters of Bishop Obinim were going to invade the fetish priest’s house and attack him so we sent the men there to prevent that from happening’, he said.

ASP Tanko added that the protective custody did not restrict Okomfo Yaw Appiah’s movement.

“If the fetish priest was minded to go (referring to Jackson’s)  the police would have escorted him there”, he said
