Speaking on Accra-based Kasapa FM, he said "He [Mahama] could be the best material but is he the only person in NDC who could be the best material?... Yes of course! haven’t you seen Spio Garbrah is going round? didn’t you  hear that Namaole claims that he’s also contesting? so there are people coming seriously."

The lawmaker added that "I don’t know whether he may come back or not. He hasn’t told me and I’ve not discussed that with him. But I’m only saying that for now he should hold on."

However, he noted that indiscipline and arrogance of power caused the defeat of the NDC of winning power in the 2016 general elections.

Joseph Bipoba Naabu blamed the party’s defeat in the December polls because of the arrogance of some Ministers who were appointed by former President John Mahama.
