Where is the Special Prosecutor? Koku Anyidoho asks

Mr Anyidoho said that instead of the Akufo-Addo administration focusing on the Special Prosecutor Office, it should rather aim at working to fulfilling the promises they made to Ghanaians ahead of the December 2016 elections.

Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM Tuesday, Mr Anyidoho said that instead of the Akufo-Add administration focusing on the Special Prosecutor Office, it should rather aim at working to fulfilling the promises they made to Ghanaians ahead of the December 2016 elections.

"We are not afraid of the Special Prosecutor….the Special Prosecutor is not an angel, he said, questioning, the Special Prosecutor….the Special Prosecutor, who is he and where is the Special Prosecutor? he asked.

He further stated that members of the past Mahama administration were ready to face the Special Prosecutor, an office he believes would deal with members of the NPP government as well.

The Office of a Special Prosecutor was a major campaign promise of Nana Akufo-Addo while he was the opposition candidate in the December 2016 elections.

While many have said that the office would be a duplication of roles, because there are agencies such as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice and the Economic and Organised Crime Office that are responsible for investigating corruption, others have praised its implementation and called on the president to make it truly independent of political interference.
