The constituency treasurer of the Ahafo Ano North branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Adams Alhassan has allegedly stabbed his chairman over disagreements in the use of a party vehicle to campaign for the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Peter Anarfi Mensah.

Addressing the media, the constituency chairman said since the regional minister, Mr Peter Anarfi Mensah filed to contest the sitting MP, he asked that in line with the party's constitution, no constituency executive should use any vehicle for respective campaigns, nor support any of the candidates.

However, he said he asked the police to take over the vehicle when he realised that some candidates were still bent on using the vehicle to campaign for the regional minister.

The regional minister later instructed the police to release the vehicle to the District Chief Executive, DCE, he added.

He said after he realised that the vehicle was being used to campaign for the regional minister, he went to the DCE's office on Sunday after meeting President Mahama in Kumasi as part of #Changinglives tour to demand the vehicle but they could not tell him where the keys had been kept.

''I ordered that they should deflate the tyres but in the process, Alhassan who has flouted party rules and has been campaigning for the regional minister came around in the regional minister's campaign vehicle and asked why they were grounding the vehicle. When I said I was the one who gave the order, he slapped me and when I retaliated he brought out a knife and stabbed me in the head and below my eyes," Mr Awuni said.

Meanwhile, the incumbent MP, Mr Adusei has accused the regional minister of ordering that the culprit be released minutes after his arrest.

The regional minister has however said he has no knowledge about the incident.
