I never received any money from Agyarko - Mahama Ayariga

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga stressed he never received the said bribe from Boakye Agyarko when he appeared before the Ghartey Committee on Monday, February 20, 2017.

After narrating the whole incidence he was asked by the committee if he will like to retract anything he has said especially because of the demeanour of some of the names he mentioned.

However, Ayariga responded by saying “it is a fact that I received the said money from the minority chief whip.”

He added that “it is also a fact that we heard rumours that Hon Boakye Agyarko bribed the committee.”

Before then he revealed that he has never met or in his life spoken to Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko.

“I have never in my life spoken with him, never. The first time I was seeing him physically as a politician and as somebody who goes on air and also on television and on radio was when he appeared before the committee. [That] was the first time I was physically engaging him,” he told the committee.

On Friday January 27, 2017, Ayariga, in an interview with Accra-based Radio Gold said that the minority MPs first accepted the money because they were under the impression that the money was their sitting allowance but they later returned it when they heard rumours that the money was coming from Boakye Agyarko who was then to be approved by Parliament.
