He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the partnership between his foundation and the millennium promise alliance.

The former president said all that is being done currently is enshrined in the constitution and therefore if there was to be any change it must be from a review of the constitution.

“Those are constitutional and we are a country of laws. We talk of rule of law if there is something in there you do not like go back and seek the solution in the constitution. You want to reform it use the constitutional prescription for solution. Not until you’ve done it you shouldn’t waste too much time.”

The former president who has been staying in the Cantonments residence ever since he was Vice president explained that he had asked for the residence to be allocated to him as his “retirement home”.

Many argued that this will leave the current Vice President stranded a case ex-president Mahama denied. He said provisions had been made for Dr Bawumia to live in another official residence.

However following the continuous backlash from the general public Former President John Mahama sent a letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo withdrawing his preference of his official bungalow as part of his retirement package.

Sources close to Pulse.com.gh confirmed Mahama personally wrote to the Nana Addo to rescind his interest in the house at Cantonment.

Former president Mahama said the reports are “mischievous” and are only meant to "embarrass" him when he had formally informed the incoming administration through his former chief of staff Julius Debrah to continue staying in the house.
